In many discussions about teacher effectiveness and research into that issue, it was shown that a teachers ability to listen to the students question and the number of possible responses with different interpretation of the subject matter that the teach was capable of, increased the teachers effectiveness. I like to get to know the child and form a friendship with him or her. Once we develop a rapport it is easier for them to open up to me. When the comfort level is established we then develop a mutual-learning relationship, as I can learn from the student just as much as he or she can learn from me.
I have tutored throughout school and into college. During college, I mentored and tutored two young girls from an under-privileged school for a local program.
