I currently teach GED math for Guilford Technical Community College. I have been teaching in the GED program for 8 years now. I also tutor adults for GTCC who are trying to upgrade their math skills to pass the NC CRC test. I taught pre-k for 3 years with Guilford Child Development. I have 2 kids of my own and I enjoy helping people!
I am now in Graduate School trying to achieve my masters in curriculum and instruction. The last couple of courses we have really focused on the 8 intelligences. This provides guidance to teaching every type of learner. I am by nature an encourager. I am optimistic every child can learn -- the trick is to spark an interest in the subject and communicate the material to them in an understandable way. I love working with children. I've taught acting at the Durham Arts Council for three years. The duties from that position included directing students in performances which I helped them create. The plays were written around themes chosen by the camp director. So, in essence, the children and I would research those themes and develop stories which I would then turn into plays using my expertise.
