While attending Bates College, I was motivated academically to achieve the best education possible. I sought out teachers who inspired me to work harder and enjoyed participating in chapel services, community service activities and participating in competitive sporting events. To date, I have earned two degrees, a BA in English from Bates College and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Development from Lesley University. For three years at Geneva College (2007-2010) I served as a math tutor, tutoring underprivileged, unmotivated, underachieving students at the local high school. Although I loved mentoring the young adults, unfortunately because of relocation back to Maine I was unable to continue the job. Finally for another 3 years I worked as a junior high and high school math tutor in high school. Once again I was unable to keep this due to relocation to college but I learned a lot and look forward to continuing my tutoring career. I love teaching and interacting with all students, although my preference is junior high and high school as I have helped out in these areas before. The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years. My family moved to Northern VA and I taught Fifth grade there for two years before moving back to TN for a year where I taught 8th grade Algebra, and 7th grade English. Since moving to Maine I have only had oppurtunity to work with alterative special Ed with grades 6, 7 and 8.
