I have taught just about all secondary levels of science throughout my teaching career. I have typically worked in county schools where each member of the department had to take on multiple tasks. I have taught chemistry, physics, biology, earth science, environmental science, horticulture, and principles of technology in my twenty-five year career. I have often taught lower math classes as well, ranging from Math 8 to Algebra I and geometry.
I really enjoy working with young teens. I have worked in high schools for 25 years in Virginia and West Virginia. I have always had good rapport with teens and have enjoyed interacting with them. My goal in elementary school was to be a marine biologist from the first time I went to Sea World. It was not until my last semester of my undergrad that I decided to change directions for my career and enter the world of teaching. I was a lab assistant in college and tutored chemistry, organic, biology, trigonometry, etc. I draw much of my inspiration from a summer internship conducting whale research off the coast of New Hampshire. It was a priceless experience that I will never forget. It was also the most educational experience of my life, so far. I am in my second year of teaching 7th grade science and have no regrets in career choice. I believe science is a passion that has to be taught, not a subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate from Radford University, I am anxious to begin teaching. I have spent the last year in a middle school classroom observing and teaching. The first semester I was in the school part time while taking classes at Radford. During this semester I did a lot of observing and moderate amounts of teaching. During my spring semester, I was in the middle school classroom full time and teaching full time. I have no job expereince to show for what I've learned but would love the opportunity to begin.
