As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. The first thing I do with any new student is identify his or her learning style so that I may incorporate those specific strategies into my lesson for an effective and personalized learning experience. I have most of my experience working with English language learners. Over the past year I have worked with English language learners that came from varied backgrounds such as, university aged Korean students, adult Russian speakers, adult Ukrainian speakers, and adult, middle, and elementary aged Spanish speakers. I really enjoy speaking other languages, which is why I majored in Linguistics and French. I received my TESOL certification in Querétaro Mexico this summer where I also studied Spanish and became rather proficient.
