I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of the time I do a lot of question/conversation responses to allow them to find the answer for themselves. I like a problem based learning style, even for the youngest of children. I graduated from Davidson College with a major in economics, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of both math and social science. I tutored during my junior and senior years in North Carolina and I've also done private tutoring in Gainesville. In addition, I coached 4-12 year olds how to swim. If I can teach 4 year olds who are screaming and kicking how to swim I can teach someone math or ecnomoics.
