My comments on tutoring Chemistry : I am very familiar with all branches of chemistry up to PhD level, and did a two-year post-doc fellowship.

I use the heuristic style - teach a little; now you try it! The student learns best what they learn from within. At my English boarding school, that is the way we were taught, and it worked. Also, I show them different study methods to see what works for them. I have read widely on psychology. Early on, I assess a student's best learning mode - visual, aural, spatial, numerical, verbal, etc., and play to it. While being active in drama I learned how to 'read' the hearers and viewers. Many of my former students are teachers. Sometimes they recommend students to me when their students pass beyond the teacher's comfort zone. Occasionally student's stop seeing me, and months or years later I hear things like: 'Guess what, I made 100% on the final.'; 'I was the only grad. school entrant who passed the exemption test for Physical Chemistry'; 'I made the Headmaster's list for th ... read more

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! Chemistry major and have tutored the subject extensively with overwhelming positive feedback.

Tutoring should serve the student's benefit in both the short-run and long-run. In the short run, I make sure the student has his or her specific questions answered thoroughly and the specific concept learned. I also teach students to be independent thinkers so that in the long run, they are trained to apply a logical, systematic problem-solving approach to a wide variety of academic situations and have a fluent understanding of the subject they are learning. At the same time, I also aim to ensure that the tutoring has led to tangible results in of academic improvement.

I have been tutoring ever since elementary school. Since I was the only one that knew how to read, I had to assist in the others' learning of Phonetic sounds. I've also tutored fellow classmates in middle school, high school, and college. If I don't know how to approach a certain topic, I ask for the assistance of some of my former professors because they know I'm trying to help other students.
I try to be really patient because I know some subjects aren't very logical to some students.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have been an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. I have taught chemistry at the Georgia Southern University and Georgia Gwinnett College. I have taught: - Principles of Chemistry I & II with lab. - General Chemistry for Engineering Majors with lab. - Chemistry for non-science majors with lab. If you are struggling with solving chemistry problems, I can help you with that. I am great at showing students how to solve chemistry problems. I have a webcam, microphone and electronic pen. I can talk you through the problem as I demonstrate how to solve the problem. I can teach you a step by step protocol to use in solving nearly every problem faced by students in Freshmen chemistry.

As a professor of chemistry, I taught Principles of Chemistry I & II with lab and General Chemistry with lab for Engineering Majors. I taught classes both in-person and online (live). I spent more time with students, one on one and online, than I did in class. I am very comfortable tutoring online and, at the risk of sounding bragadacious I'm very good at tutoring online.

Teaching others cannot be defined by one style of teaching. The way to teach is by learning first how the student receives the information. Auditory learners and Visual learners require two different methods of teaching. The key is to make the information understandable to the student by breaking the information down in any format. Knowledge is power and satisfaction. I remember the feeling ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have taught at the college level for the most part, I feel comfortable tutoring younger students and feel that my teaching style can be adjusted so it is applicable to all students. I believe in a one on one teaching approach in which the crowded classroom lecture style can be narrowed down, studied, and rethought to allow for individual approach and understanding in order to allow the student's level of comprehension to dictate the learning pace.
I recently graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry Minor. During my junior and senior college years, I worked as a Undergraduate Teaching Intern for several undergraduate biology courses. My responsibilities involved leading discussions, holding office hours for individual tutoring, and preparing and grading exams. I also tutored organic chemistry and calculus informally ... read more

As a child, my dream was to become a veterinarian. I took accelerated, Honors, and AP science classes throughout High School, and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Biology in only three years. I later decided that my passion for science would be better utilized in the classroom as an educator. I returned to school at Old Dominion University to pursue my MS and subsequent teaching license. Throughout the program, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and sought to master teaching techniques. Because I have been unable to secure a suitable teaching position, I aim to apply what I've learned and help students master science concepts.
Having worked with students while earning my education degree, I believe that all students learn differently. After determining how students learn, it is easier to design a learning plan for your student. I do believe that total mastery of many science concepts come ... read more

I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. Through the years, I have had the privilage and pleasure of teaching band in a classroom setting, marching band, and private lessons.
The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach.

My description of teaching involves directly explaining the material to the student and then have the student to teach me the subject or concept that was just learned. This insures that the student fully understands the concept, thus the concept can be applied to problem solving. In addition, I like to actually sit down with the student and go over the assigned or completed work to make sure that the student is understanding and applying the material correctly.
