I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. Writing is one of my top subjects! I developed a writing program for elementary age students in NY. It was used to help students prepare for the state-wide writing test. It incorporated reading and writing as well as math and writing. It also included a section on incorporating listening and writing.

I have over 25 years teaching in an elementary school. I have worked extensively with children who fall below grade level or need extra help. I use games and manipulative when working with students. I encourage them to do their best and reward them for a job well done. I also involve the parent, leting them know each time what was done and where we are headed.
