A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed English and Writing. I have kept a journal since I was in the 1st grade. I scored very high in these areas on my ACT's, as well as in all of my high school and college classes. I am enthusiastic, kind, positive and approachable. I passed my state boards on the first try because I feel I have excellent study skills. I enjoy working with people and find joy in helping others. I was a substitute teacher for a short period of time before taking a job as a counselor in 2004. In 2006 I moved to the Blue water area and have been employed as a medical social worker at a rehab and nursing center. I am looking for an opportunity to help others succeed in school and life.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 10 years teaching at the college level. Some of that experience is face-to-face and most is online. I am a strong advocate for education. I also have two children of my own who I work with on a daily basis. Both of my children excel in school and I believe it is because of the one-on-one work we do at home.
I am a believer in life-long learning. I believe that as a teacher it is our responsiblity to find the technique that matches with the child in developing their ability to learn. I have children of my own and I love to watch as they learn new concepts and grasp ideas. As a graduate student from Central Michigan University I have learned several different methods to use when tutor students. Knowing that all students do not learn the same way or at the same speed I use several different programs/methods when tutoring a student. With younger studengts I use a combination of work books and computer lessons along with small homework assignments. With older students I use programs such as writing small reports at first while slowly building them up to larger yet easy to grasp essays. I work with the students on topics that they are interested in to try to make their tutoring as enjoyable as an enjoyable experience as possible.

A Little Bit About Me...

I went to public schools in East Detroit, Michigan. In eighth grade I set a personal goal to attend the University of Michigan. I never had private tutors. My strongest subject is math. Mr Learmont, my junior high school history teacher would frequently say, "Take care of these books and these books will take care of you." It was that inspiration that raised me to love learning and in turn teaching others.
