When explaining concepts to students in classes that I sub-taught I felt the best approach was to talk to individual students and use a whiteboard to clearly explain the concepts. I usually would give hints or start the problem, and then I would look for the student to add insight on how to progress. I also feel that teaching is an adaptive process and each student has their own learning personality that the teacher needs to recognize and adjust to. Asking questions throughout the learning process and maintaining a positive attitude also aid the learning process.
