I worked as a camp counselor for 3 summers, and understand that everyone has different learning styles. Personally, I am a visual learner, and I understand that when teaching lessons it is important to incorporate all aspects of learning: touch, sound, visuals, etc. I am energetic and creative and would rather do hands-on activities to drive the lesson home than to sit and memorize lists forever. I enjoy working with students on a one-on-one tutoring basis. I begin the first session with listening to the student to discover what he/she feels is the greatest strength and weaknesses in the areas of academics. Using Benchmark and other assessments, I then select and utilize materials that will best meet the student’s individual needs. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors.
