Learning can be fun!!

When tutoring, I strive to make lessons engaging, effective and enjoyable. Specifically, I tailor lessons according to an individual student's needs and involve students in a dialogue by asking questions that provoke thought, conversation, and perhaps humor. Because facts and figures are easily looked up in the information age, I place particular emphasis on thinking and on "learning how to learn". My teaching goals for any student are threefold: 1. learn the material (well!) 2. pass the test/subject (with a comfortable margin!), and 3. enjoy it (most challenging with math!).
I love learning and teaching alike. My first teaching experience was in high school when I helped teach inner city children how to swim. Bio Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I am a biochemistry major. I have taken biochemistry and received a recommendation from my professor for me to tutor.

I employ a variety of techniques in teaching, including visual representations of abstract concepts, interactive tailored example problems created for each individual student, and interactive exercises to practice concepts.
I have taken several lower division and upper division courses in each of the subjects I tutor. I have done substantial biochemistry research at the University of Redlands. I am currently a tutor for the University of Redlands Academic Success Center, and have taken a tutor training course, certified by the college reading and learning association.
