My comments on tutoring Reading : The thought of reading an entire book can be a daunting task for a child, but I strive to teach students that once you start using your imagination, reading can become one of your favorite things to do!

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.

Helping your student feel good about themselves

My style of teaching is patience, understanding individual needs, and building self confidence in the student. A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent the last seven years as lecturer in Music Theory at Southeastern Louisisana University. I have tutored in Music Theory while at this post at back through undergraduate school. I have taught private lessons in piano by both Suzuki and Traditional methods for over 20 years. I believe my experience in writing a thesis and articles in my field would qualify me to tutor in academic writing.
Private lesson teaching is my favorite teaching. It is a unique opportunity to adapt one's teaching approach to a single individual, to create the perfect learning environment moment to moment.
