Chemistry is one of my top subjects! This is a difficult subject for many students, especially if they are not strong in math. I have always enjoyed helping people to understand these beginning concepts in a way that they can remember them and use them as they progress to other classes! M.S. in Chemistry plus 3 years Junior College teaching experience and 15 years of tutoring experience.

I obtained my Master's Degree with the intent to teach. I did teach for 3 years at a small Junior College, then moved into industry. However, even while I was working in industry, I tutored several students over the years. Several of my previous students have gone on to Pharmacy School, three have acquired their PharmD degrees. Another student has just completed her Physician's Assistant program at a very competitive institution. Chapter 31 VA Voc-Rehab Provider. I have tutored students from age 10 to age 60+, in a variety of levels of Math and Chemistry.
I believe I have a talent to find the "disconnect" in where a student is missing the concept and help them to understand it through a variety of examples and analogies. I like to work with students face-to-face, but online is great, too! With online tutoring, nobody has to drive and the appointment times and session lengths ... read more

I have finished all but one chemistry course for my major requirement and am very proficient in the subject. I am going into my Senior year and plan to attend medical school after I graduate in the Spring of 2013.

I am currently a Senior at the University of South Alabama. I have just finished up my Junior year and will be graduating in the Spring of 2013 with a Chemistry major and Mathematics minor. I was the valedictorian of my High School class with a 4.0 GPA and currently hold a 3.8 GPA at my University. I have taken and passed with an A or a B (Chemistry 131, Chemistry 132, Organic Chemistry 201, Organic Chemistry 202, Computer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry 301, Physical Chemistry 302, and Quantitative Analysis. All of these courses came with a laboratory section and I received an A in all of them. I am also proficient in Mathematics up to Calculus.
I am very understanding and patient when I tutor because I know how frustrating it can be to not get a certain topic. I sometimes need a different approach to understand material myself so I will ensure that I take various approaches to the ... read more

I like to tutor by working through problems with the student in a manner that builds his or her confidence - because every person can understand difficult scientific concepts but it takes a vivid imagination and solid guidance; I try to be that guidance.
I have a BSc in molecular biology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. I have taught upper division laboratories at the college level, and previously worked as a scientist for the UFCVM where I participated in a wide variety of research and professional medical projects. I have tutored math, chemistry, physics and biology, and I'm currently working on obtaining a secondary degree in physics.

My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Taught college level chemistry for years

I try to tailor the teaching method to the student.
I have taught college level courses for twenty-five years and have enjoyed it greatly. Most of teaching has been at private colleges with small class size. Student evaluations have ranged from good to excellent. Students have particularly found me helpful in office visits. I have also tutored high school students in math and science.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have had several experiences in private(home) tutoring. I tutor because I love teaching people. I feel satisfied/accomplished when people understand what I teach them and prove it to me by making good grades. I have taken General Chemistry 1&2, General Biology 1&2, Introduction to Computers, English composition 1 & 2, Calculus 1 & Calculus 2(in progress),Organic Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 2, am currently taking Chemistry 265. This is the last chemistry class I have to take to be a chemistry minor.I have taken these classes and more and i made A's in 96% of my classes. I am in my school's honor program. I received an award certificate from Phi Kappa Phi in Fall 2010 for maintaining a GPA of 4.0. I am a memeber of National Society of Collegate Scholars(NSCS). I have been nominated to be a member of Phi Eta Sigma honor society and Abeneefuo Kuo honor society and so many other honor societies. I am in my school's president honor roll and Dean's list. I am also an honor student in my school. Currently I am involved in a research on "sequence specific oxidative modifications in the mitochondrial genome during hypoxia" in the pharmacology department of the College of Medicine in my school. I am currently researching on a professor to do my senior thesis with. Senoir thesis is a mandatory research any honor student have to do to graduate with honors. For now, I am thinking of doing my research in mathematics or business.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have taken courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Physics and Comparative Anatomy, and Mammailian Physiology. I also taught the labs for the Microbiology for three years and also taught the labs for Comparative Anatomy for a year. I worked with hundreds of students and throughly enjoyed that time with my students.
I worked first hand with professor and teaching assistant and have learned what they are looking for. I believe in teaching concepts and helping students fully understand ideals rather than students just memorizing facts. This way no matter what the professor asks they will know how to answer questions and ace exams. If they just memorize things, they can get confused and get answers distorted. I believe in hands on learning and teaching. I w ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been an individual who loved learning and have always enjoyed helping others achieve educational goals to their highest ability. During high school I tutored junior high students in math and science. As an undergraduate at Mississippi State University I was employed as a junior and senior to teach biology labs to class sizes of 30-40. I have a BS in Biology and have had a career in clinical research.
There is nothing more thrilling than to see the self esteem of a child or adult grow with sucess in an area that is challenging. I am a very patient, enthusiastic individual and am motivated to help others succeed. I am very adept in finding out learning styles of individuals and breaking apart difficult concepts. Most of all I do believe that all students can learn and everyone has their own pace.

After finishing my PhD I went to work for Monsanto as an organic analytical chemist. My speciality was the use of mass spectrometry to understand organic chemical reactions and the products and impurities that were formed. While working for Monsanto I also taught College chemistry classes (Organic I and II and the labs). I have over forty publications and forty presentations. I am the author of two books on Organic Analytical Chemistry. I was also honored by being appointed a Science Fellow in Monsanto. I am currently scheduled to teach Organic Chemistry I this summer at the University of West Florida.
I have always wanted to teach but enjoyed the research that was available working for a large chemical company. I had the opportunity to teach Organic while I was working and enjoyed it but the time constraints were tough. I am now retired from industry and will be teaching in the Ch ... read more

I am a recent graduate of the University of South Alabama, College of Education. I returned to school to earn a teaching certificate in elementary education so that I might expand my career in environmental science as an educator. I have completed two semesters of student teaching, one semester in classroom observation/aide, and one semester as a reading tutor. In addition to these degree requirements, I have been an activity presenter at the Baldwin County Water Festival for the past four years. I volunteer to assist with children’s art activities at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope. I have extensive experience in technical science writing from my graduate work and my job as an environmental analyst.
I am still developing a teaching style. However, I know from personal experience that constructing knowledge requires much more than reading a textbook. All learners h ... read more

My intention and goal in tutoring: For students to experience the thrill of understanding a facet of the world, self improvement, marketable job skills, and the sweetness of sincere achievement. I will make it a priority to invest time and energy into helping anyone who needs assistance. Having said that, I will not bribe students with undue flattery, irrational ego boosts, alleging that "everyone's a winner just for trying", and so on. Such so-called rewards bear little semblance to the reality that students will inevitably face.
I can claim over four years of tutoring, article writing, and editing experience. You will gain someone with passion and flexibility. I have received consistently positive feedback from copy editors, students, and supervisors. I've earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Minor in Materials Science and Engineering. I have a BA in Philosophy/Religious Studies and I also studied Environmental Science with over 40 credit hours. Due to this wide range of studies, I have strong skills in both reading and writing, as well as in math and science. During my college experience I tutored my peers and for the last two years I have been a Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Pastor. I have also spent time as a volunteer tutor for homeschooling students.
I have always had a strong desire to learn and to teach. I work hard and I am diligent to complete a task. My joy is to work with children of any age to help them grow and develop and learn. I believe it takes love, grace and patience to teach a child. The student must not only be expected to learn from the tutor, but the tutor must also learn from the student. Learning can be made enjoyable when a teacher has an encouraging spirit and does not give up on th ... read more

Tutoring and teaching have always come quite naturally; the ability to see the struggle from the student's perspective, and recognizing the demand for creative explanations to old problems, are the core of my now developed skills as an educator. I have volunteered in Title 1 classrooms in St. Louis through Teach for America and have been assisting high school students for standardized tests for the last 5 years. My education in University has presented incredible context for my early education, giving it new life and understanding; the "whys" all make sense. My education has also demonstrated the need for understanding, as opposed to mere memorization.
There are many buzz words and phrases applied to teachers and teaching styles. While I perfectly respect all of these new theories and methods of both teaching and learning, it must not be forgotten that each student is unique in the ... read more

I am a BE-Electrical Engineer (Telecom Major). I Graduated in 2007 from PAF-KIET, an excellent technical Institute in Pakistan. In my four years as a student, I tutored a number of junior students in Engineering courses and tutored A & O Levels Students in advanced Maths and Physics.
I believe that, although learning comes when you are a student but understanding comes when you start teaching. I always tell my students to be open and forward. I make sure that before they do their part of the job, I have done mine in research over the best way to make difficult concepts understood easily with practical Examples.

I love teaching and working with students of all ages.I has found by experience that learning is affected by social, environmental, and cognitive factors. I believe that every student can learn, but instruction needs to be designed in a way that motivates them, focuses on the main objectives, and uses an effective response to instruction to assess performance. I am very patient and will develop different ways to retrain a student if traditional methods are not effective. .The ultimate goal for educators is to teach students how to teach themselves. Success should gradually improve a student’s self efficacy and lead to self directed learning. This skill level is especially important for secondary school students and adult learners.
I have a diverse educational background that has allowed me to excel in careers in the military, public and private sectors. In 1977 I earned a Bachelor ... read more
