A Little Bit About Me...

As an Honors Student at Utica College, and as a past tutor, I feel very comfortable in the teaching setting. My long term goal is to enter the doctorate program at Syracuse University so that I may teach at the college level in the future. My BS in accounting with CPA concentration has given me the knowledge and skills that would allow me to be an excellent tutor in the specific area. Learning and teaching is my passion. In high school it ws teachers with the same passion that made learning fun and encouraged me to achieve academic success. Most any subject can be made interesting if approached the right way. Mostly it is about patience and good respectful communication. A Little Bit About Me...

I have assisted many students throughout my years as an undergraduate, graduate, and alumni to achieve thier goals in college. I was very determined to stay on the dean's list and get involved in many groups in college. I have also written many papers on various aspects of human biology.
I am flexible to include many teaching styles while working with students. I have found, however, that the best way I have learned is through experience/discovery. I prefer a hands on approach but I am patient with those that are not ready or do not prefer to learn that way. I started off college at Mohawk Valley Community College and earned a Liberal Arts and Science degree. I feel that all college students should be well rounded and should take a wide variety of courses. I then enrolled at Utica College to finish my BS degree. Over those two years, I took 18 science courses and most of them were accompanied by labs. It was stressful and difficult but it was something I was determined to complete. I thought I wanted to go to medical school, but later decided against it. Also during my time at Utica College, I conducted medical research with Aspartame and Omeprazole on mice. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience to date has been in a professional setting. I relate best to high school and college students because these levels are what I am used to dealing with. I am relatively patient and willing to re-explain difficult concepts. I provide working examples of concepts to foster comprehension and retention.
I pursued my degree in Biotechnology with the intent of continuing my education with a PhD in Molecular Microbiology. Instead, I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a total of 5 years as an Analytical Chemist. I was a Trained Trainer at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 2 years which means I completed a program on how to teach other employees to perform tasks in a method that maximized retention (allowed them to remember the process well).
