As a graduate of Southwestern College, I was very much driven by a high level of excellence in education. While on active duty in the military, I completed my BS in Human Resource Development and I received Magna Cum Laude honors. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and reports in various areas of study. During the last eight years of my military career I have counseled Sailors in pursuing a college education and tutored several of these same Sailors in English and mathematics.
I love teaching and working with young minds. I believe anyone can learn and meet his or her potential if he or she is given the opportunity. I have both the educational credentials as well as the work experience to be an effective tutor. As a professional, I have experience working in both the education and social work fields. This has given me a unique perspective on working with at-risk students. I have not only tutored and mentored elementary and middle school students, I have worked with them on goal-setting and behavior modification, provided counseling and family advocacy, and coordinated community services.
My one and only passion has always been children. I strongly believe that every child should be respected and given an equal opportunity for success.
