My preferred method of teaching is hands-on, through real experiments. Unfortunately, experiments cannot always be done, so I use lots of illustrations and age-appropriate analogies that are easy to relate to. Many times students are convinced that science is a subject too difficult to conquer, that they must just survive it, but science is all around us. I strive for that "a-ha" moment when a student realizes that all biological and physiological processes are interrelated and that the trick to understanding science is to build on previously learned concepts. I believe that teaching solid fundamentals and relating more difficult topics to already learned information is key to helping students thoroughly understand the subject.

I have always loved working with children and I believe I can make a positive difference in childrens' lives. Children learn through seeing, hearing, saying, feeling and doing. I try to determine which combination of learning styles are best for each individual student and then use that method to teach them the subject. A Little Bit About Me...

I can adjust to most settings. Right now I have a client back home that I work with on a once a month basis. I was used to high school and middle school students but have been working with their children who are in elementary grade levels. As such, they have vaulted to the top of their classes in math.
I have been a tutor for the past five years.
