I am currently working on my master’s thesis in mathematics, by which I expect to graduate fairly soon. I am patient, creative, and thorough in my interaction with students. In my experience teaching a wide range of ages and children from very different backgrounds, I have seen how all students can thrive in an academic setting with the right instructional strategy. All students learn differently; some need their assignments read aloud, while others prefer to read alone. Some learn better by hearing what is being taught, while others prefer to learn with visual aides. Some thrive on group and peer assignments, while others prefer to work alone or one-on-one with the teacher. My job is to find how your student will grasp what is being taught in the most effective manner of teaching.
I did not realize I wanted to become a teacher until after I took a long-term substitute job while looking for employment. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and decided to further my education so that I could continue to teach. My undergraduate degree is in Mass Comm ... read more

I enjoy teaching and working in the clinical practice performing laboratory tests and analyzing the results. I am enthralled with structures and functions of organisms and continuously intrigued with revelations of newly discovered mechanisms. I find gratification in getting a student to understand a concept being taught and in their expression of the lesson learned. My teaching experiences were acquired while obtaining my Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry and during graduate level coursework. I have also worked as a tutor in which I have accumulated many experiences in teaching with versatility.
I start by asking the students to tell me exactly what is it that they not understand and start from there. I then like to work backwards from that point to find where they got lost. I also use everyday concepts to give similiar scenarios to get t ... read more

I am a champion for youth. While obtaining my education, my passion for children inspired me to tutor and mentor youth and young adults in programs like Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, and Student Support Services. Furthermore, my interest in youth and education led me to begin teaching on the high school and collegiate levels. For several years, I have tutored and/or taught students in English, writing, public speaking and presentation skills, psychology, and ACT/SAT preparation.
My goals as a teacher revolve around sharpening the critical thinking and analytical skills of students, challenging them to reach their full potential, while simultaneously encouraging them and providing a safe, caring environment that is conducive to learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching one-on-one and have found this to be the most effective in regards to my students success. I believe that every student can do well in math but every student has a different pace. I try to adapt to each student's pace/learning style as I explain a new concept.
After completing my MS in Mathematics from CSU East Bay, I began tutoring high school students privately. Then, I taught Finite Math, Elementary Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra courses at Faulkner University and at Auburn University Montgomery as an adjunct instructor. This past year I taught high school math, science and Spanish at a Success Unlimited Academy (private). I also tutored K-12 students in math and science. I have successfully worked with autistic as well as children with ADD.
