I am a substitute math teacher for District 93. I took alot of math in college to earn my bachelors of science degree, and got all A's, with the exception of calculus. Math is my favorite subject. During this year, I worked with students in reading and math lab classes which were designed to help students who were struggling to achieve proficient scores on their ISAT's. Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.
I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.

I enjoy teaching children math because so many seem to struggle in this area, especially in confidence. I have a love for children and for learning. I believe in being patient and encouraging children to learn.
