I started around 2005 tutoring for the departments of chemistry and math in Queensborough Community College, from the basic levels in organic chemistry 2 and calculus. I earned my Associate degree in science from Queensborough Community College and finished my Bachelor Degree in Stonybrook University. At Stonybrook University also tutor chemistry and math. During the summer 2006, I had the entire department of chemistry tutoring under my guide. My experience comes from teaching my own classes and from interacting with my students.
My style is open to discussion. As far as possible, I adapt my teaching style to my students' needs. When I was teaching beginner-level German to an adult opera singer, I focused on helping her develop her conversational skills and pronunciation, using English to explain difficult concepts. By contrast, when teaching a beginner-level 12-year-old, I used a total German language immersion approach and built on my student's love of creative writing by asking her to write her own endings to traditional German short stories. I like to use the hands on approach. I find out what the weaknesses are of my students and address the topics by giving a general review. I present a problem for them to work out. After a few minutes, I ask them what they think is the best way to approach the problem. If they cannot come up with one, I then guide them through the appropriate thinking pattern in order for them to solve the problem.
