Writing is one of my top subjects! I have very strong skills in teaching the basics in writing. Often times I have found that many students do not have a strong foundation in sentence or paragraph structure. Once these skills have been firmly established, I then have students concentrate on their use of vocabulary, expression, and description in their writing.

I like to make learning as fun as possible. I strive to inspire students to want to learn rather than just teach. Communication is a key is a factor in my teaching. Communication between parents and teacher is essential in meeting the students needs.

I like to use visual learning methods as well as memorization and recognition methods. Seeing a diagram is sometimes not enough. Actually trying to simulate a diagram/problem on your own after seeing it once promotes better understanding. As pertaining to math, depending on the level of the learner, I would do some problems together first and then let them work through it and find out where they run into problems. I always write out the problems along with the learner. I believe that everyone has the potential to learn all subjects as long as they have the motivation and determination to learn. I love watching the face of a child when they realize that they have mastered a word that previously eluded them. When I tutor a child in reading, I will ask them questions about what they like to learn or how they like to have the teacher teach them and then base my tutoring off their answers. This way, the child feels involved in the process as well as gains the knowledge in a manner that feels correct for them to learn. I have had much success with tutoring children this way.
