A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching social studies in Cabarrus County for the past 12 years. I am nationally board certified and have my AP certification in World History. This summer I will be receiving my IB training and will begin teaching AP world history in the IB classroom. I am interested in tutoring specifically in world and AP world history, which I consider my speciality, but am proficient in all social studies classes and can help at any level. I have tutored before, I am currently tutoring kids at my high school everyday in the subject in which they need help in. My goal in tutoring is to not only to have the child succeed in the course but to understand the concept of the course. My style of teaching is different for each child, because everyone does not learn the same way. Some people are visual learners and with them I focus on teaching them with pictures. Writing Skills is one of my top subjects! Although I am not especially trained to teach writing. I have been writing for a large portion of my life and I graduated high school taking all honors English classes. I have also taken College English and am currently enrolled in a college creative writing class at Stanly Community college. I have written many stories, poems and songs and writing just comes naturally to me. I would love to help anyone find joy in writing as well as success.

The way I teach depends on the needs of the student. I personally learn by being show and then doing something while someone stands there to make sure I do it correctly until I can do it on my own.
