I taught special eduction K-3 one year and K-6 for three other years where I restructured the special education program to bring it up to research based best practices. I supervised nine aids, three assigned to my classroom and six to individual students. I designed curriculum aligned with student IEP goals, collaborated with regular education teachers and related service providers, and monitored student progress. I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Development. However, before Human Development was my major, it was English Language. Through my four years at a major university, I have learned how to properly write research essays, what sources are credible for essays, and essay format. I also have had a pet-peeve for words that are incorrecly spelled and when there are grammatical errors in something professionally done.
I believe that children all come with different levels of cognition. Therefore, each child has their own learning pace. I like to give a child the time that he needs in order to accomplish his goal in learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I must admit that my experience with teaching is limited, however I love to sit down with groups of children and help them to discover new concepts and ways to learn the subject matter. I taught five year olds for two years in Sunday School. Every week was a challenge to help them to pay attention and listen well. Fortunately, through a great deal of patience, perseverance, and consideration for the children I was able to make learning about the scriptures fun. It truly amazed me how much they had learned through the year. Of course, much of the credit should go to their parents, I got them involved as much as possible.

I like the tutoring environment because I like seeing individual progress. It is easier to assess where the child is. I believe that the basics are essential to moving forward in education. Memorization of math facts makes it easier for a child to learn new material because he isn't bogged down. I don't believe enough emphasis is placed on arithmetic in today's schools. Basic arithmetic skills make story problems easier. Types of story problems need to be practiced, not just thrown in at the end of a chapter without much information on how to do it. I am patient and punctual. I like being with students.

I know how to help students study and learn. I can teach ways to get important information from notes and textbooks to help students complete assignments and increase test scores. I am very patient and if a student doesn't understand a concept the way I am presenting it, I will try other ways to present it until the student understands. I also desire to increase a student's love of learning. Throughout my undergraduate studies at BYU, I taught and tutored in Spanish for up 24 hours each week.
