A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior in high school. I have taken a range of different classes and I am able to help students understand what is being taught. I helped many of my friends get better grades so that can graduate with a better GPA. I have never really solo tutored anyone but I feel that I will be able to help in some sort of way. I have taken many science classes and I did very well in them. Also I did very well in English, social sciences, and history. I have also taken classes up through Accounting 4 and i am pretty good with business classes. I have helped in a Homework help lab and tutored kids having trouble in classes before so i have a little experience with helping students. I homeschooled my 3 children, during which time I developed, planned and taught full curricula over the course of 15 years, each year tailoring the material to the levels and needs of each child. I have taught most subjects from Kindergarten through high school level including math and science of many levels. A Little Bit About Me...

First and foremost I believe in teaching/tutoring from where the student is when I meet her or him. This is because if I don't appreciate and understand what the student knows, I can't really begin to imagine where to proceed in order to help them achieve their potential. So, I pay careful attention and ask questions to assess her or his intellectual position and concerns in relation to what it is they wish to accomplish. I am also interested in learning how the student learns because that helps me also imagine how to approach the tutoring process. Once I establish this baseline understanding of their motivation, learning style, and objectives, then the student and I can formulate a plan for an enjoyable and successful learning experience.
