A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I like to work with the parent and child on any goals they have for the year, while updating the parent and child on progress, problems, and behavior.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a retired chemist with 42 years of experience in industry. I hold a BS degree with a Chemistry major, and completed some graduate courses in Chemistry. During my career, I supervised laboratory technicians and taught them laboratory procedures and equipment operation. I developed excellent grammatical skills in writing laboratory and progress reports, and delivering management presentations. As a Safety Coordinator, I presented monthly programs on laboratory safety. I taught Sunday School for 8 years, coached T-Ball, Little League Baseball, Midget Football and Girls’ Softball for 2 years each. I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for 3 years each, and taught the Chemistry Merit Badge for the Boy Scouts.
