The easiest way I can explain my teaching style is to begin with the fact that I have worked for Disney for the past 6 years. I always have a smile on my face, and I believe that encouragement is the basis for all true learning. Students need someone to encourage them more than feed them facts. By guiding students through new concepts and learning with them instead of for them, each student is building his or her own learning tools that are more likely to last than the tools their tutor may provide for one homework assignment and never use again. I love putting all the pieces of the puzzle together - those "a-ha!" moments when students have breakthroughs in learning and understand have to be some of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently enrolled in the graduate engineering program at the University of Florida, in which I plan to graduate in the spring of 2012. I enjoy working with people and I have a strong background in numerical analysis. I have taken the GRE, ACT, and the SAT. Scores were high above the national average for math and at about the average for the written portion. I do have experience in writing research papers and laboratory reports, all in the field of civil engineering.

Literally all my life I have been asked by students, parents and teachers to help students who were having trouble. I get tremendous fulfillment from watching someone who has been frustrated finally "get it." In addition to teaching music lessons, tutoring all subjects, and homeschooling my own two children, I have worked for the last 17 years with a private school. There I have taught a wide variety of subjects, but they depend on me the most heavily for high school sciences and maths. I am a recent graduate from the University of Florida from the College of Education with a BA in Elementary Education. I entered the ProTeach program during my junior year at UF.
