Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too. I also helped with their after-school program, I also created supplemental study guides and multimedia software to help students to improve their study skills. I taught for one semester at Central Bucks School District where I taught Academic Biology, Astronomy and Oceanography. I then taught two years at Gateway School District where I taught 8th grade physical science. I now have a permanent position at Yough School District where I teach 7th grade Life Science. I am also currently pursuing my Masters in Education.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a B.S. in biology from West Virginia Wesleyan College. The college is a liberal arts school and I had to take a variety of course work aside from science classes. While I was in school I spent a summer in Australia with the School for Field Studies studying Tropical Ecology and Tropical Reforestation. I also spent a semester in Brazil with Antioch College traveling and learning with different ecosystems. I have experience writing preparing/carrying out experiments and writing reports. Since College I worked two years for a smelting plant in their lab. I currently work now as a medical lab tech for UPMC. I am pursuing my education by taking prereqs to get my masters in teaching.
