I am a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Music Education, having taken many education classes and completed a semester of student teaching at the elementary and high school level in Rhea County schools. My prior experience in teaching comes from over 5 years of teaching piano lessons to beginning through advanced students from age 4-adult. While at Bryan, I was a tutor for music theory students as well as assisted and edited English and literature papers and essays.
I have a great love of teaching and guiding young people in their academic studies. My approach to teaching or tutoring is open and involves as much personal encouragement as I can. I believe it is essential for the student to have a desire to learn in order for retainable education and it is essential for the teacher/tutor to encourage this desire as much as possible through teaching practices and activities.

I received a BS degree from UTC and taught at DuPont Elementary for 8 years, taught for PC training organizations & then managed a training program at Chattanooga State Technical Community College where I wrote all manuals, taught all classes, & designed all testing. I also tutored for 2 years on a personal level with mostly elementary students in Math & English. I also did training for Erlanger Hospital & Memorial Hospital. I enjoy working with students. It seems that, in most cases, tutoring is essentially a confidence-builiding exercise. Yes, it's anout instructional leadership, but it's more about showing a student they can really achieve what they're setting out to do.
