Math- teaching a child how/why/where the steps to solving a problem came from originally and taking past knowledge together. Building a students confidence then showing the student simpler/easier way of solving. Other- answering all the questions a student has and making sure the understand why it's important/its impact
High school senior at east Hamilton High with 3.8 GPA. Ap world history, Ap US history, Ap studio art, Honors Classes including English, Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, biology, have all been taken and passed with an A. I went to TN governors school for the arts for visual art. I have taught first graders and have tutored elementary students from 3rd-5th in my neighborhood.

My comments on tutoring Drawing : My undergraduate degree is in Visual Arts.

I have taught 5th Grade Math and Science, 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade as an Interventionist, Kindergarten, and most recently Advanced Math and Language Arts / ESOL/CIVICS in and Adult GED/HiSet program. I have the ability to motivate and light the fire of interest in my students by incorporating in my teaching full emersion projects. Using an approach that fully immerses my students in the subject they are learning gives them the opportunity to learn firsthand instead of being merely a receiver of information. I call this approach “Walk a mile”. I have used this approach in many of my student teaching as well as substituting experiences. A Little Bit About Me...

I love educating all children in order to achieve their long term life goals. I am patient, friendly and easy to get along with. I can make learning enjoyable and more easy. I will make sure my student understands the material very well in way that he/she is able to teach another student or even me.
I have earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry from East Tennessee State University. I have more than 100 hours of volunteer experience in all fields of area due to being in organizations like Alpha Phi Omega, Phi Sigma Pi and President's Pride throughout my college career. I believe I'm qualified to teach computers because I use it everyday and know basically most of all the Microsoft Office. English/LA and Social Studies probably not as qualified but I know the basics, if I did not I would not have a Bachelor's degree right now.

More About This Tutor...

The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing. I am endlessly creative, coming up with myriad examples to illustrate concepts.
In 2006 I taught graphic design topics at Westwood College. In 2007 I taught the same subject at The Creative Circus (roughly equivalent to an MBA program for designers, writers, photographers, and art directors). In 2008 I taught in the design department for Georgia State University. This summer I traveled to a remote region in India to teach English.
