Pre-Calculus is one of my top subjects!

I try to explain concepts by explaining the methods behind them. Once a student understands the concepts, it is easier for them to apply them to other problem situations.
With over 35 years experience teaching math, I have successfully taught students from third grade through college calculus. I enjoy math, and my students are able to understand it in a one-to-one teaching environment. During this time of closed schools, it is difficult for students to understand and adapt to this new way of learning. After entering the workforce for a few years, I took a few classes in education to acquire my teaching license in comprehensive science at the secondary level. I have taught primarily chemistry and physical science for 3.5 years, but have also taught biology and earth science. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had several different interactions with children of all ages, spanning from elementary to college students, and have enjoyed every experience. I am excited about becoming a teacher to influence a number of kid's lives, but also love the impact that one-on-one tutoring can have. I received my undergraduate Bachelor's degree from Wake Forest in 2006 in Religion and Political Science. I started doing tutoring at the beginning of this year. I was tutoring a student in Chemistry and Math at the college level for about 2 months. I interviewed the student and found her needs and the curriculum she was taught in school. Based on that information, I tutored the student by explaining the material and ensuring it was understood. I also made sure the homework was done properly. I provided guidance in the specific subjects. Several years ago, I also tutored a grammar student in elementary math.
