It's important to understand individual interests and how each student approaches problems because everyone is different. For example, creating analogies is an impetus to learning. To get a better idea of how I approach this style of teaching, I wrote an article: "Education for the Young Mind: The Science Behind Pogo Sticking." I received very good feedback from fellow student-pogo sticking enthusiasts regarding what they learned and how it modified their view on education.
