A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I think that with the right guidance and put in the right environment, anyone can learn. I look forward to being that "right guidance."
I attended several schools to achieve my undergraduate degrees, both of which I worked hard to excel at the University level. Attending graduate school at Binghamton University truly prepared me for academia, requiring many research papers and essays as well as honing my knowledge in psychology, the arts, human development, english, and biology. As I teach, I love to find a child's strength and then expound upon that strength to aid their weaknesses. There are always new things to learn and I love being able to open up that learning world for a child. I generally use a hands on approach to learning and use visual aids to help children grasp hard to understand concepts. All children have the ability to reach their potential when given the chance and I love getting to know the students I work with and understanding how they best learn. Each child learns at a different pace and through different methods. I, as his/her teacher, have the responsiblity and privilege to understand how he/she learns and then alter my teaching methods to best meet his/her learning styles.
