I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I think that with the right guidance and put in the right environment, anyone can learn. I look forward to being that "right guidance."
I attended several schools to achieve my undergraduate degrees, both of which I worked hard to excel at the University level. Attending graduate school at Binghamton University truly prepared me for academia, requiring many research papers and essays as well as honing my knowledge in psychology, the arts, human development, english, and biology. I am currently the Sixth Grade History Teacher at Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School. My responsibilities at WCCS include developing rigorous objectives for the Sixth Grade History curriculum. Moreover, I serve as a Special Education Guided Reading Instructor for eight, Sixth grade students. I have experience working with children with learning differences both in and out of the classroom setting. In addition, I served as Co-Director of Bear Buddies in Brunswick, ME. for three years.
