I started college with the intention of becoming an elementary school teacher. I completed all coursework at Chadron State College Chadron, NE with the exception of my professional semester. I graduated college in the summer of 1985 with two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in Guidance/Counseling and the other in Recreation. I worked as a certified teacher in the state of Florida in an alternative school for emotionally disturbed/behavior disordered boys. I have 4 children and I have home schooled all of them to varying degrees. Currently I am home schooling my youngest two children and they are in the 11th grade. I enjoy teaching all subjects but am partial to mathematics, history and grammar. I love learning and consider myself a life-long student. I am a firm believer in getting a quality education. As a teacher and instructor, I have over 20 years experience in education and a BA in Music Education. I have 13 years experience teaching music, to all levels K-12, in public schools. In addition I have and continue to provide individual music lessons to children and adults. I also teach group kickboxing exercise classes at our YMCA. I have also enjoyed volunteering in our Awana club as a group leader assisting 3rd - 5th grade students. I have proven many methods of teaching, especially in instrumental music. I have worked for the past 14 years in the behavioral health care field. I have served as a mentor to a youth with behavioral/emotional issues. I hold a BA of Education with a minor in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I also hold an MSEd in Education- Counseling. I hold a current Nebraska teaching certificate and have worked with youth of all ages. I enjoy teaching and helping youth learn. During college I had written many psychology research papers and solved an abundance of challenging math problems. I have worked at Mosaic in Axtell, NE for three years. Here I have educated clients on daily living tasks; and provided assistance with daily cares and activities. I train them to be as independent as possible. From July 15, 2010 up until September 15, 2010 I was a substitute teacher for a special education teacher who was on maternity leave. I taught the kids reading, math, oral comprehension, and vocabulary. I conducted summaries to map their progress, and attended meetings that were held to asses if any changes needed to be put in place for the residents.
