Social studies tutor that makes learning fun!

I love to teach, and making learning fun is my main goal. If learning isn't fun then the students get bored. Keeping it interesting is my style most kids love it!
I am a recent graduate of Grand Canyon University with a B.A. in History. I am currently enrolled in my Masters in Secondary Education at Grand Canyon University Online. In addition I am in the process of becoming certified in New York State in Social Studies 7-12. In addition I have 10 plus years of Customer Service experience, and I am currently a Substitute Teacher at Northern Adirondack Central School grades k-12. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach when teaching children is child centered. The activities I provde are needs driven and geared toward the child experiencing success as he works to increse skills in the target area. I teach the child to use strategies which will help him in the area of organization and learning. When appropriate, I encourage the child to use calming techniques or engage the child in activities to promote alertness, the assist the child in focusing on the activity at hand.
I have taught pre-school and elementary school in Canada and in the USA. I have taught French K-8. I have worked with adults with disabilities in a habiliitation setting. I have worked as a COTA in the school districts where I provided OT services for students with disabilities, aged 4-21.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working for a local High School for 3 years now as an instructional assistant. Currently I have 3 math classes. I have 2 pre-algebra classes and one geometry. I basically help students mostly 1:6. I have 8 math students that I work with. This summer I also thought math for the students that have failed classes or that were skipping classes and needed to make up the credit. I have BA in English/American Literature. I speak English and Bosnian(native). I also have taken all the education classes and need Praxes I and Praxis II and student teaching to be certified as an elementary teacher.
