A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently involved in the public school system as a Literacy Tutor for grades k-3. I have earned a BA in Journalism and English and have decided to continue on to pursue my Masters degree in Education. I have been trained in specific reading strategies that can help improve fluency, phonemic awareness, and phonics; as well as vocabulary and text comprehension.
I love working with children. I believe they all have the potential to be great at whatever they choose – sometimes they just need that extra hand- and that is what I can offer. I am patient, easy going, kind and encourage laughter. My goal is to engage children in the things they are naturally interested in and to make learning fun.

Throughout the past 25 years, I have developed a deep love for learning and helping others. I can usually be found volunteering for local services, outdoors or looking into a new course at the nearby college, etc. I recently completed my first full year of teaching in Houston, TX.
