I have always wanted to be a teacher. I began tutoring while I was still in high school. I earned my BS in Elementary Education in 1980. I have tutored students of all ages in different subjects. Most of my tutoring experience has been in math and reading. I have tutored students for all sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. I have been a homebound and home-school teacher, as well as a classroom teacher.
I love to help children learn! It is so rewarding to see the reaction of a child who suddenly understands what he has been trying to learn. My teaching style depends entirely on the student. With patients and flexibility, a teacher can provide a student with the desire to learn on their own. With guidance, that student can remain motivated and willing to seek his or her own answers. It is important to me to impart that desire, because it aids the student in all further endeavors.
