As an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of North Alabama, I teach students in a public speaking course through a series of class lectures, individual and group activities, live performances, examinations, and out of class assignments. I work on skills such as audience and situational analysis, research, organization, delivery, body language, and listening. My goal is to make my students more at ease with public speaking by teaching them how to be successful at it in a variety of situations. In school I took a class that taught us that everyone learns in a different way. Just like how everyone sees things from different perspectives. After taking that class I realized that there is not just one way to teach or learn. I feel learning should be educational but fun. Repetition is also important. These aspects should all be combined in order to successfully help children learn. I am friendly, easy going, and like to have a good time. History has taught me various skills and understandings that other fields may lack. Not only do I have excellent writing and reading skills, I am apt at thinking analytically. Also, my research skills are strong, regardless of the subject. I have also spent three years studying German in order to grasp the language and understand a foreign culture better. The time I spent tutoring was with first graders through the America Reads program and my college.
