I am a graduate student at UC Berkeley working towards my Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1983 I completed an ESL teacher training course at Stanford University, and subsequently was hired to teach English in Japan. I made heavy use of the prevailing ideas in ESL teaching at that time.
