Saxophone is one of my top subjects! I have two degrees in saxophone; classical under-grad, and master's in jazz studies. I can teach all styles of music.

It varies depending on the needs of the student. I am patient, but meticulous when it comes to music. I am very open about my philosophy that music is hard work, but also is a ton of fun.
I served as lead tenor saxophonist for the 56th Army Band Ft Lewis WA from 2000-2004. My musical diversity landed me in concert band, big band, jazz combo, Dixie-land band, Latin jazz combo, show band(pop/rock), among others. I received a jazz merit scholarship to play 1st tenor for UCO's top jazz band. I have been recognized for outstanding musicianship by the International Association of Jazz Educators multiple times. I have had the pleasure of performing with a Grammy Award winning Jazz Vocalist, and several other giants in the jazz business. I have tutored numerous students over the last 15 years along my military and educational pursuits.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at Oklahoma State University, I have been fortunate enough to study a vast and varied curriculum. Although I am not an official graduate of OSU, I essentially have earned all the credentials to hold a B.S. in Economics, and next spring I will graduate with a second B.S. in Mathematics. I have spent the past two years as a tutor at OSU, primarily focusing on Chemistry (General through Organic) as well as Mathematics (all levels up to Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra). I have also spent several summers as a preschool teacher,and enjoy working with ALL levels of students!
I truly enjoy working with students. In my experience, many students get discouraged when they become confused with the content of material they are studying. I am graduating in May 2010 with a undergraduate degree in English Education. I have worked in several school districts as tutor, observer, and student teaching. I have personally worked in the following areas: Speech/Drama, English, and Middle school tutoring. I have worked with students in the 6-12 grades. I have also worked with Southern Nazarene University as a Teacher's Assistant. I have worked close with students and teachers to help students become better communicators, especially in a written aspect.
I believe my job is not to force the student to learn. I want to create a passion for learning (even if student does not like the subject). Students have to take responsibility for learning. The tutors job is to help students reach full potential.
