I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I have worked with preschoolers and children K-8. Furthermore, I have tutored in Reading Comprehension, Math, Writing Skills, and Spanish. My teaching style is patient because I was working with younger kids, providing a demonstration of what I wanted then to do before asking them to do it, if it involves writing or any other type of physical activity. When teaching reading and vocabulary i would sound out the letter or word and then ask the child to do the same, then move on to the next letter or word. After I have gone over the material with them once, while providing tips they can use to remember certain things, I'll ask them to try it on their own. If they are still having difficulty, I'll help them sound out the letter/word till they get it on their own. That's usually all it takes. I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day. My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student.
