After being laid-off, I have worked as a writing and editing consultant for graduate students, continued my private tutoring practice with learners in elementary and high school, and volunteered to help design a literacy support program for economically disadvantaged youth.
I believe that all learners are capable of high achievement if they receive appropriate support, and with a recent Master's Degree in Education, I am well-versed in current best practices. I have a student-centered approach that involves assess ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

About midway through my studies at Northeastern University, I started teaching in after-school programs. There I taught middle school and high school ages kids how to DJ and produce music. I also taught capoeira, a Brazilian martial arts class. During my time at NU i studied all aspects of music technology including compostion, music theory, production, and engineering.
My teaching style is very hands on. I like to show the student how its done and make them repeat the process over until the concepts are understood. I also like the students to have choices and some sort of control over their own learning processes so that there is mutual respect amongst peers and myself.

I love teaching children. I try to find ways to relate the subject matter to the students so that they may be able to better understand it. I try to personalize and adjust to each student because each student has a different way of learning.
Growing up, I was always interested in Physics, Math and Science. I started tutoring elementary students about a year and a half ago. I also teach swimming to all levels and ages at the City of Cerritos. I want to be able to get more students interested in the sciences early on to give them better opportunities in their scholastic career.

I can promise you three things if hired; I will never be late, I will never no show, and I will be the hardest worker you have ever employed. I strive to be a person of integrity, and I am nothing if not loyal. Though I have not worked as professional tutor, I have time and again found myself instructing and assisting fellow students and family members in various subjects; particularly history. I am a goal oriented person. I was 15 years old on my first day of college. I received an AS emphasis in Japanese from Utah Valley University. I graduated with a BA in International Business from Vanguard University. I am currently in the midst of my final semester of my MFA in producing at Chapman University.

More About This Tutor...

I am a honors graduate of Summa Cum Laude from a well known Polytechnic school here in Southern California. My drive to succeed and reach my full potential as a contributing member of society has led me to achieve two different Associates degrees and a Bachelors degree. When I transferred to the university I was on the path to become a Civil Engineer. My interest in Mathematics led me to that path and enabled me to gain a clear understanding of Math through analytical geometry. Due to the extensive process of obtaining these degrees, I have acquired many skills in other areas such as analytical and critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, the ability to work well in teams and basic general knowledge.
I greatly enjoy sharing my knowledge in areas I have strength in with others who wish to gain the same knowledge. Helping others understand gives me a great pleasure. I like t ... read more
