I acheived a B. S. in Education in 1975. My major was Spanish with a minor in French. My personal goals as an undergraduate was to obtain an education that would allow me to work in education and business as an educated professional. I continued my education with post graduate studies in business and healthcare science. I worked toward adding science to my teaching certificate in the 1980s. I have worked with children of all ages both at home and in schools as well as adults.

My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about. This was a blessing in disguise because it taught me not only to learn different ways to tutor a student, but also to figure out through body language and little signals as to whether or not they were actually comprehending the information. Teaching is not just giving information and hoping they retain it. After moving to Pensacola, I have tauht two years in the Florida K-12 sytem, presenting in Tallahassee in an area social studies conference, and three years in the community and junior college system. My experience working in a local high school--as the school bookkeeper, as a substitute teacher, and as the cheerleader coach has given me the skills I need to teach and tutor others. I have a Master's Degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Accounting, and was asked by a former professor to teach a Principles of Accounting class. At the time, I was employed full time and could not accept the position. I have extensive skills in writing essays and research reports.
