A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked variously as a technical writer and editor, substitute teacher, and computer technician, but always returned to teaching. I possess a single subject credential in English, and I have recently completed a Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Education at National University where I maintained a 3.9 GPA in my graduate studies. My capstone project on the effects of test-preparation strategies on English language learners was one of the most rewarding projects I have completed and I strive to put that knowledge to use to help students do their very best on high-stakes standardized testing. To continue forward with my learning I am now enrolled in an Educational Technology certificate program through National University as well.

I believe that an open dialogue is a teacher's most needed resource. Any child needs to feel as though he or she can express concerns or apprehensions without the fear of feeling embarrassed or stupid. I truly believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Teaching should, of course, relay necessary information, but it should also foster a student's drive to succeed, as well as the knowledge that any goal can be reached through perserverance.
