I am not a teacher, but a substitute teacher at a local school district. My work with the children, grades K-12 and special education has been very rewarding. Those children who are discouraged or are having a hard time, find solace working with me because I am able to instill confidence in their ability to succeed and watch them grow. I am flexible to include many teaching styles while working with students. I have found, however, that the best way I have learned is through experience/discovery. I prefer a hands on approach but I am patient with those that are not ready or do not prefer to learn that way. Prior to homeschooling my six children, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Schriner's Burn Institute in Boston, and then at Darmouth College Medical School in Hanover, NH. My science and laboratory background from UVM was beneficial to my success in these labs. I have now spent to past 18 years homeschooling my children.
