I prefer to see what the learning style of the student is and then adapt my teaching style to the student.
I was an in-school suspension teacher for two years at Durand High and Middle School, helping students get caught up on their pre-algebra, social studies, science, English and Spanish homework. Previously to becoming a teacher I worked in industry as a project manager or assistant for different companies, using Spanish occasionally. I student taught in 2004 at Hononegah HS, one semester at Auburn High School before being hired at Durand High School. As a certified translator and an aspiring interpreter, the Spanish language is a major part of my life and I thoroughly enjoy sharing it with interested students. I received my degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have gathered a vast understanding of teaching methods as a tutor during my time there. It takes a radical approach to learning if one really wishes to speak a foreign language with fluency, and I have worked towards perfecting my methodology to achieve this for my clients.
Audio, oral, and immersion techniques are my preferred method of teaching. This includes various activities with radio programs, conversation simulation, and learning to think on your feet in Spanish.

Spanish is one of my top subjects! I was born in the upper west side of Mexico City in 1996. I attended a private bilingual school (Colegio Cumbres) from kindergarten to my junior year. While I was attending high school in Mexico, I also took two courses a literature course and a course in reading comprehension and writing composition proficiency given by UAEM (Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico). I also earned some extra cash when I decided to become an English to Spanish and Spanish to English translator. I took this job as an independent translator. I started learning English when I was seven years old. I have two certificates in English awarded by Cambridge University which are, PET (Preliminary English Test) and FCE (First Certificate in English). My senior year I was a foreign exchange student in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Williams Bay is roughly fifteen minutes away from Elkhorn. I attended Williams Bay High School and graduated with a GPA of 3.6. As a senior in high school I took a huge part in the Spanish club. I helped many students as well as my teacher with the Spanish language. My teacher had taken several courses in Spanish proficiency and had taught Spanish for several years. However, since Spanish is my native language, I helped my Spanish teacher perfect her Spanish. I have been teaching Spanish for two years now. I have taught it at all levels, beginner, intermediate, and expert.

I prefer teaching my students to speak first. Once the student is fluent in Spanish, reading, and writing is taught. I emphasize conversational speaking a lot. That is what will get the student to lose the fear, and become fluent. Speaking a language is all about confidence. I consider myself a good leader. I was class president for three years in high school. I was the captain of the football team, and I have always taught by example. Example is the best teacher and the best motivator. Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. My current position has me utilizing differentiated instruction and modification techniques with nearly 50 students throughout the day which will enhance my ability to tutor others who need help. My particular areas of expertise are Social Studies, Spanish, English and ASVAB/GED test prep. I am weaker in Math and Science.
I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential.
