I am a firm believer that every child can learn in their own way and at their own pace. I incorporate differentiated instruction within each of my lessons to reach every type of learner. I believe that it is important for a teacher to recognize how each student learns and teach accordingly. I am very determined, yet patient, when it comes to students learning a new concept. I will try everything I can to help a student grasp a new concept. I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I have a Bachelors degree in PSychology and a Masters degree in Social Work specializing in working with children/families. I have 13 years of experience working with children in the educational and home setting helping to mentor them by providing them with the tools necessary to be academically successful. I have not only counseled students in school but have assisted them in staying on tasks and completing assignments; as well as tutoring in reading, math, spelling, language arts, test taking, etc.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first tutoring experience occurred during my attendance at South Georgia College (SGC). At SGC I was a tutor for Student Support Services and was responsible for providing academic tutoring to my peers in various academic subjects. After graduating from SGC, I continued to provide tutoring services with the Sylvan Learning Center and the America Reads program at the University of Georgia. Under the provisions outlined by these programs, I provided academic tutoring in reading and mathematics to students in elementary, middle, and high school.
