While attending Texas Tech University I was employed by the Marsha Sharp Center for Student Athletes as a tutor and worked with athletes in the following subject areas: English, Spanish, Art History, History, and Political Science. I was also a summer school teacher for a non-profit organization called Shalom Readers and led a classroom of children between 6 and 8 years of age. I was responsible for planning Christian based games and learning activities for them as well as providing them with coursework that covered all basic subject areas. A Little Bit About Me...

I teach the basic concepts of acting through Stanislavski and Chekhov. I focus on character development as well as scene analysis. When analyzing a play or story, I focus on the basic concepts such as inciting incidents, major dramatic question, climax, the point of attack, resolution, the theme, and characters. I work with the student so he/she can find these elements and talk about them and expound on them. I work as fast or as slow as the student needs.
I earned my A.A. in Theatre Arts at College of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida. I then moved to Lakeland and earned my B.A. in Theatre Performance at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Last summer I was an assistant teacher for the summer camp at the Civic Theatre in Ocala, Florida.

My local community college, however, did not offer any courses to help my earn a teaching certification. Then I read an article in my local newspaper three years ago. I believe that the curriculum should be tailored to the learning style of the child and not the other way around. Learning especially reading is a slow process where small steps towards the final goal count more than big leaps which are not lasting. Students can guide a teacher towards their ability and it is our job as teachers to pickup on that and use it to the child's advantage.
