During my studies at Stony Brook University, I was able to gain some experience teaching peers as an undergraduate teaching assistant. I studied literature and achieved a second bachelor’s degree in Art History and Criticism. I studied abroad in my junior year at Lancaster University in England. It was the experience of a lifetime. In my most recent position as a Lead Teacher for Preschool, I have had the opportunity to educate students at the very beginning of their journey through school. I am currently working part time as a ski instructor with children. This has taught me to be patient with the development of my students. It is incredibly important to maintain an atmosphere where learning is fun. I am certified by Oxford seminars to teach english as a second language. During the classes we studied general techniques for teaching english, that can be used for native speakers as well. I went from the Boston Public Schools to Commonwealth School and then Wellesley College, and would have been lost, early on, without help from tutors. I majored in English and Russian and work with several communities for whom English is not their first language.
