Most recently I have been tutoring college students in algebra and helping dyslexic students write reports and comprehend written material. I have taught and tutored all phases of a massage program, including anatomy, physiology and pathology. Teaching ESL to all ages throughout my life including people from Mexico, Japan and Thailand is also something I've enjoyed doing. I've homeschooled high school students in a huge variety of coursework, and taught health, math, English and physical education in two private schools.
My students have said that I make them feel comfortable and intelligent. I prefer students from age 9 to 99, and love to find that place in them that brings out the learner in them. I have been a professional instructor pilot for 20 years teaching pilots from over 30 different countries in English and Spanish. I have a BS in Zoology, an MA in Information Management, and am working on an MS in Aeronautical Science. I have ten years grammar school, high school (AP), and college level Spanish and lived two years in Colombia South America as a Christian missionary. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style involves being open and relatable while keeping he conversation related to learning and the subjects of importance. I feel like students respond best when they are in a positive work environment and are pushed to be their best. This involves teaching through the Socratic method, of forcing individuals to answer their own questions. A Little Bit About Me...

I am always on the lookout for the twinkle in a student's eyes when he has finally understood an especially challenging skill or concept. This is what keeps me working with children, although I no longer teach full-time. I believe that the small successes help a student progress quicker and with more confidence and self-esteem. Positive reinforcement is key, as well a sense of comfort with what is being learned. I am easy-going, love to laugh with a student, and listen to him when he shares what is making the learning difficult.
